PANEL: ON PLACE

A delta is a place of conjunction and separation, a space where there is both convergence and divergence, where one thing is able to become many. The idea of place is influential to writing on multiple planes: both through the influence of the immediate environment of the writer, and in the place the writer chooses to situate their writing within. Some write in and about the same place, while others find it easier to write about a place with some distance. Location creates an immediacy because of our constantly changing landscape: is it possible to engage with place without also engaging with our constantly changing geography? In this panel, writers will discuss how they see their work engaging with ideas of place.

PARKING: Available on-site.

ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair accessible.

PANEL: ON PROFESSIONALISM

Like a delta, writers’ career paths often begin in one place, a love for writing, and then branch off in many different directions. Some writers further their career by pursuing an MFA or life in academia. Others find success with a wide variety of career paths. In this panel, writers will discuss their personal paths to becoming professional writers and answer questions about work-life balance with writing, writing life and career options outside of academia, and how to go about pitching, getting an agent, and landing a book deal.
