SATURDAY APRIL 6
ON PLACE
A delta is a place of conjunction and separation, a space where there is both convergence and divergence, where one thing is able to become many. Because our landscapes are constantly changing, location demands immediacy. Place can influence writing in multiple ways: both through the influence of the writer’s immediate environment and in the place the writer chooses to situate their writing. Some write in and about the same place, while others find it easier to write about a place from a distance. In this panel, writers will discuss how they see their work engaging with ideas of place, and ask: is it possible to engage with place without also engaging with our constantly changing geography?
ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair accessible.
PARKING: On-site.
APRIL 6 ★ 11:30-12:30

ON PROFESSIONALISM
Like a delta, writers’ career paths often begin in one place, a love for writing, and then branch off in many different directions. Some writers further their career by pursuing an MFA or life in academia. Others find success with a wide variety of career paths. In this panel, writers will discuss their personal paths to becoming professional writers and answer questions about work-life balance with writing, writing life and career options outside of academia, and how to go about pitching, getting an agent, and landing a book deal.
ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair accessible.
PARKING: On-site.
