Stephan Viau, Director
Stephan Viau is from Montreal, Canada. He is a graduating MFA candidate of poetry at the Louisiana State University. He is the 2018 recipient of the William J Smith Award for Poetry judged by Douglas Kearney. He has served as poetry editor and assistant fiction editor of New Delta Review , and he has been a part of the Delta Mouth Literary Festival for several years, serving as chief graphic designer, fundraiser chair, associate director, and now director. He currently lives in Baton Rouge, LA with his wife and two cats.
Christie Lauder, Assistant Director
Christie Lauder has worked in comic publishing, as a librarian, a freelance journalist, a semi-professional roller derby player, was a founding editor and writer for Persephone Magazine, and ran two verticals for Jezebel.com. For the past several years, Ms. Lauder was the acting director/program manager of the Centre for Excellence in Journalism in Karachi,the first professional training program of its kind for Pakistani journalists. While there, Ms. Lauder also helped develop and launch Pakistan’s first Masters of Journalism degree program.Originally from Philadelphia, Ms. Lauder is a second-year fiction writer in the LSU MFA program and serves as the Non-Fiction editor for the New Delta Review in addition to her work with Delta Mouth. She can be easily lured into conversations on horror movies, Shirley Jackson, the virtues of genre fiction, and pop culture in general, and will happily show pictures of her rescue cats with little prompting.
Zita Hüsing, Social Media Coordinator and Website Manager
Zita is from Stuttgart, Germany. She is currently a second year PhD student at Louisiana State University. In the past, Zita has worked as a co-editor for 42 Magazine. She has expertise in managing social media and websites from international organizations such as the UNFCCC. Zita published an article on “Human Interactions with Technology: Investigating the Postman in HBO’s Westworld” in the academic journal Messages, Sages and Ages in August 2019. She is happy to be a part of the Delta Mouth crew and is looking forward to a great festival in the spring.
Evan Leonard, Outreach Coordinator
Evan Leonhard is an English-Creative Writing freshman at Louisiana State University. A New Orleans native, his work as appeared in NOMA’s Poet’s for Art and 826 New Orleans’ i said what i said. In 2019, he received a Scholastic Art and Writing award for Poetry. Evan is currently a staff member at The Delta Journal.
Jason Buch, Faculty Advisor
Jason D. Buch is an Assistant Professor in English and Screenwriting / New Media. Professor Buch received his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of South Florida and his M.F.A. in Film, Theatre and Communications Arts, with a focus on Screenwriting, from the University of New Orleans. He served as an Associate Producer on the 2007 Telly award- winning PBS documentary American Creole: New Orleans Reunion and wrote and directed the interactive iPhone/iPad video app So You’re Dating a Vampire. His most recent project, the web series Arceneaux, is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Faculty Advisor
Maurice Carlos Ruffin has been a recipient of an Iowa Review Award in fiction. A native of New Orleans, Ruffin is a graduate of the University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop and a member of the Peauxdunque Writers Alliance. His work has appeared in Unfathomable City: a New Orleans atlas, Kenyon Review, Callaloo, Massachusetts Review, the Bitter Southerner, Garden & Gun, and the LA Times. His first novel We Cast a Shadow was published in 2019 by One World Random House and named a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice.
