Winners of the 2020 Delta Mouth Poetry and Flash Fiction Contest

We are proud to announce the winners of our Poetry and Flash Fiction Contest!

We congratulate Jolie Gilbert who submitted her winning poem ‘Virgo Fortis’. Jolie Gilbert is a senior English/Creative Writing major who strives to write poems that uplift queer women and survivors of sexual violence. She is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Delta Journal, a co-founder of Free Verse Spoken Word Poetry Club, and the former Baton Rouge Youth Poet Laureate. Jolie has published one full-length collection of poetry, Cellophane Girl (Penmanship Books, 2017), and hopes to someday do that again.

We also congratulate Alden Ceasar, winner in the category Flash Fiction with the work ‘Imposter Syndrome’! Alden Ceasar is a 22 year old senior from Clinton, LA majoring in creative writing.

We would like to thank our wonderful judges Candice Wuehle (poetry) and Ally Glass-Katz (flash fiction) for all of their hard work!
