Everything’s turning up Delta Mouth! There’s a big, beautiful profile of the festival over at DIG, a hat tip from the good folks at Coldfront, and a nice preview from NOLA lit blog Room 220, too. Huge thanks to culture candy and 225 for choosing Delta Mouth as a featured event!
Delta Mouth’s full schedule can be viewed at www.deltamouth.com/schedule.
Hey, Louisiana! Check out (and share) our kickass lineup below! Throughout the week, keep returning for profiles of each visiting (or local) writer. Remember: everything is free, thanks to the generosity of our many donors!
Delta Mouth’s first-ever Kickstarter campaign was a smashing success: thanks to more than 70 of you–giving an average donation of more than $40–we reached our $3000 goal!
Because of you, Louisiana will enjoy its biggest and best free and public literary festival in ages! For more opportunities to support Delta Mouth and details on the festival itself in the coming weeks, keep following us here and on facebook!
Tonight’s fundraiser at Chelsea’s isn’t your last chance to support Louisiana’s ONLY free literary festival! To make a donation (and get a sweet reward) just visit our Kickstarter page by Friday at 5pm.
Thanks for your support, you lovers of literature!
This Saturday is a literary extravaganza–and it all ends at the Delta Mouth Drag Ball! The ball is Delta Mouth Literary Festival’s biggest fundraising event of the year, and just $5/$7 gets you into an evening of live music, DJs, drag performance, and general fabulosity, all benefiting the biggest free literary festival in the state of Louisiana!
The fun begins at 5pm on the capitol steps, where Louisiana Book Festival-goers will crawl to to Boudreaux & Thibodeaux’s where the Unofficial After Party kicks off, featuring readers from Baton Rouge and New Orleans, as well as a screening of selections from Zach Godshall’s Lord Byron! (Free admission.)
At 8pm, after-party-goers are then headed to nearby Red Star for a special edition of the LSU MFA Reading Series, The Underpass! Aimee Davis, Maia Elgin, and Alison Grifa will be joined by special guest Anne Marie Rooney. (Free with Drag Ball door charge.)
Finally, at 9, the reading gives way to the DRAG BALL! Live act Polly Pry will be joined by DJ FM Elle and Abnorma Desmond for a whole evening of drag-tastic delights! Also: crowns for the best kings and queens, as determined by our panel of judges! ($5 in drag, $7 in normative dress.)
See you there, beauties!
Huge thanks go out to the English Graduate Student Association at LSU for holding a booksale and donating 100% of the profits (over $400!) to Delta Mouth Literary Festival. We love you, EGSA!
